Combat Exposure & Sleep Quality Study

RESEARCH / HUMAN-CENTERED INQUIRY
Exploring how combat impacts sleep and well-being in veteran populations.

This small-scale UX research study investigated the relationship between combat exposure and sleep quality using a validated measurement tool, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI).

Conducted as part of my Research Methods II coursework, the study compared self-reported sleep quality between university students and combat veterans stationed at Fort Jackson. Despite a limited veteran sample size, the project highlighted both the complexity of behavioral health research and the need for inclusive, representative data in UX and human factors work.

This project demonstrates my early ability to design, run, and analyze user research with care, rigor, and empathy—especially when working with vulnerable or underrepresented groups.
